And so we come to it at last… Blog Action Day has now officially begun for the first countries closest to the International Dateline.
I am about to send out an email to the 14,000+ bloggers who have registered. We’ll be leaving registrations open for all the latecomers during the day so we may reach a still higher number.
For myself over here in Sydney there is still one hour before the clock ticks over to October 15th and I still have a bit of sleeping to do before it’s time to post. I think as the day progresses on we can expect the posts to build up in volume from a trickle to an ocean.
And one last reminder, don’t forget that if you can it would be great if you could either tag your posts with the words “Blog Action Day” or simply use those three words somewhere in your post as we will be measuring how many times the phrase appears in the blogosphere today.
I’ll post again later today on the Action Blog and we’ll have a special recap of the day and what we’ve achieved up at www.blogactionday.org in two days time with statistics, news and more.
Have a great Blog Action Day!!

Collis, you have been an inspirational leader for all of us, and we are so honored to join you in this effort.
“How much can we learn in a day?” has been written at Joyful Jubilant Learning by Joanna Young, and like you, we will be counting one day not as a 24 hour period - but the time it takes to move from the start of the 15th right through to its close, wherever in the world there’s a joyful, jubilant learner.

Hello there in Sydney!I’m six hours away from 15th October but ready to go.I’m not much into writing and my blog is mainly images. I made a special collage to upload on my blog with a slogan both in portuguese and english.I’m in PORTUGAL and the weather is unusually hot for the season. That’s a clear sign that clima is changing fast.Environment is together with poverty one of the most important issues of our times.Ieaders .All of us and our country leaders must be more aware that we must act if we want to save the future.

Thanks for the update Collis.
Still time to go in my neck of the woods, and still more time to go before I post my final and official Blog Action Day post to complete the environmental article series I started for this event.
Still much to be done, and I look forward to your recap report in a few days.
All the best to all you other 13,999+ crazies out there!
Months in the making, and it is finally happening. Thanks Blog Action Day crew for all the hard work!
I would like to mention that even though there are five officially supported charities there are numerous others out there working on different aspects of the environment. The International Dark-Sky Association is one of them, working to reduce light pollution, which in turn reduces energy consumption and greenhouse gases. Just because it isn’t warm and fuzzy doesn’t mean it doesn’t count.
Blog Action Day is the same concept as BlogBlast For Peace which began November 7, 2006. It is growing phenomenally and will launch again November 7, 2007. I would encourage everyone to get a peace globe and post about peace on that day. My vision began with the idea of posting one central phrase as the post title “Dona Nobis Pacem” on thousands and thousands of blogs on the same day.
Bloggers made “peace globes” from a graphic found on my site and personalized them. The international gallery of peace bloggers is growing daily and we are excited about this year’s BlogBlast For Peace.
I am happy to be part of this and invite each of you to participate in BlogBlast. Good luck!

Any chance of getting a listing of the blogs who actually posted on the day? I’ve made my post (Oz time) and would like to support the other bloggers who’ve done the same by reading what they wrote, but I’m guessing a few who signed up might forget about it?
I used a Technorati tag: Blog Action Day
My contribution is this one!
Greetings
Yesterday was great! I had a few udeas on what to do, researched all week, and came up with my entry:
Green, planet-friendly pet poo disposal ideas
It buttressed my conviction, added steam to my step, made me think, and made me happy to be a part of this. I will continue developing this theme as this is only a start and there is so much we can do!
Let this day be the one of the days, we all waited for!Thessaloniki(greece) is there with you!!!
